European Commission's report: A pill bitterer than we want

Marti, 16 Mai 2006, ora 00:21 Comenteaza acest articol

Mircea Geoana went to Brussels for a meeting with Socialist ministers of foreign affairs in the EU. He has provided us with some details on what the Socialist group in the Parliament of Europe thinks about the accession of Romania and Bulgaria and also on estimations about the European Commission's report.

What is indeed interesting is the assumption that the report is highly likely to mention January 1, 2007 as date for accession, but add some conditions on the four fields under red flags in

Graham Watson: Postponement of decision on accession would be unfair

Miercuri, 26 Aprilie 2006, ora 00:20 Comenteaza acest articol

EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn is to answer questions from the Foreign Affairs Committee today. Euro-deputies are to ask him some questions too. This is not at all common procedure, for this debate was to take place once, in May 16, after the release of the European Commission's report.

There is fear that such supplementary procedure should be an attempt of groups against the accession of Romania and Bulgaria to have the final voting take place in autumn. Formally speaking, it means

Rehn says early elections would be unwise

Vineri, 07 Aprilie 2006, ora 00:34 Comenteaza acest articol

EU Commissioner for Enlargement Olli Rehn thinks early elections in Romania after the release of the European Commission's report in May wouldn't be a wise decision. Yesterday after his meeting with Romanian PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu at Victoria Palace the EU official mentioned he wouldn't want to interfere in Romania's foreign affairs, but it was very important that our country should maintain political stability.

He expressed appreciation for the progress Romania made in the last year, but

Close to EU, far from Bulgaria

Miercuri, 05 Aprilie 2006, ora 00:27 Comenteaza acest articol

Romania and Bulgaria may be taken separately, as there already is a notable difference between the progress Romania has made and the progress of Bulgaria, as far as the accession to the EU is concerned. This is what EU Commissioner for Enlargement Olli Rehn said yesterday, just one day after presenting to the Foreign Affairs Commission of the EU an evaluation of the two states' preparations to join the community.

Olli Rehn said there were legal and technical means available for the EU officials

Kearney.

Potrivit studiului "Global Cities Index", realizat de acestia impreuna cu cu Foreign Policy si The Chicago Council of Global Affairs, in cele cinci orasee puternic globalizate s-a inregistrat cea mai puternica activitate de business, cel mai inalt grad de globalizare a resurselor umane, dar si schimburile informationale si culturale cele mai intense.

"In prezent, succesele si esecurile globalizarii sunt percepute cel mai acut la nivelul marilor metropole, acolo unde traieste si munceste cea mai mare parte a umanitatii", se arata in studiul A.T. Kearney.

"In marile centre urbane se afla epicentrul crizei actuale.
